"Our officers are ready for anything -- literally," Public Information Officer Shannon Cordingly told CBS News.

When cops and members of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission arrived on the scene, they found the monkey climbing a street sign. They blocked off the road and used a water bottle to help lure the animal toward them, which only led to more monkey business.

The animal climbed on top of the patrol car and began to rip the molding off, according to reports.

The monkey’s owner, Jeff Jacques, who had a permit to house it as a pet, arrived and after 20 minutes, the animal known as “Zeek” surrendered.

"Our officers respond to some pretty serious, sad and horrific calls. It's nice to be able to respond to something of this nature, a little more lighthearted and have a happy ending,” said Cordingly.
