Patrick Kissane, the executive director of New Jersey’s Association of School Resource Officers, said “the police officer shouldn’t be disciplining students class.”

The videotaped incident, showing a high school student being thrown by now-fired officer Ben Fields, shows that police have no business in the class room unless a crime has been committed, Kissane said.

“It’s a class room management issue,” he said. Police “shouldn’t be getting involved because these type of things happen,” he said.
