Woman Attacks Boyfriend With Mounted Fish During Argument: Police

A Michigan woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a broken mounted sailfish that he was trying to sketch after a night of drinking together.

A Michigan woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a broken mounted sailfish that he was trying to sketch after a night of drinking together, police said.

The 58-year-old unidentified woman hit her boyfriend over the head with the fish and cut his hand with its sharp bill during an argument early Sunday, Whitehall Police said in a press release to INSIDE EDITION.

The boyfriend, 61, told police he had sat down to sketch the fish when his girlfriend became angry, moved it and left the room.

The fish fell and broke, and when the woman returned to the room, she blamed her beau for the damage and began hitting him and poking him with it around 1:45 a.m., police said.

He called 911, but police did not arrest the woman due to health issues and the boyfriend refused medical attention, officials said. He suffered a cut to his hand.

The Muskegon County Prosecutor plans to review the case, police said.

Sailfish are highly prized game fish known for their dorsal fin and long bill, which resembles that of the swordfish. They can grow to more than nine feet.
