Cops: Drunk Man Gets 9-Year-Old Neighbor to Drive Him to Store For Barbecue Sauce

According to police, a drunk man let a 9-year-old boy get behind the wheel of a car to bring him to the gas station.

Ohio police say a drunk man asked his nine-year-old neighbor to drive him to a local gas station so he could buy barbeque sauce for their dinner.

Cory D. Mathias, 27, was eventually pulled over by police after clerks at The Pit Stop in Tiffin would not allow the boy to drive home and reported the situation, according to The Advertiser-Tribune.

The man's blood-alcohol content was several times the legal limit, according to police.

He now faces several charges including child endangering, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusing a chemical breath test and driving under suspension.

According to police, the man had the child over for a chicken dinner and boy’s parents did not know the neighbor was intoxicated.
