A 10-year-old boy was shot in the back as he sat in his mom's car following soccer practice.
The youngster's mom told police she was waiting at a traffic stop in Houston, Texas, around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday when she heard a loud "pop!" and realized her son, who was sitting in the front of the car, had been shot.
His dad, Reginald Lewis, told KTRK: "My son started crying that his back hurt and then she turned on the lights and that's when she saw a lot of blood."
She rushed the boy to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.
Houston police met the family at the hospital, where they searched the car for evidence. They do not have a description of the suspect.
Lewis said there are surveillance cameras in the area, so the family hopes it could lead to clues.
