Pastor Speaks Out About Slaying of His Pregnant Wife as Cops Release Images of Suspect

Police in Indiana have released surveillance images of the man they say invaded the home of a pastor's pregnant wife and killed her while her infant slept.

The grieving husband of an Indiana pastor whose pregnant wife was shot dead during a home invasion last week has spoken out for the first time.

Davey Blackburn told ABC News in his first interview since the murder of his wife, Amanda Blackburn, that he still has no idea why his wife was targeted.

"We’re confused. We don’t understand why. We’re angry. We’re not really sure what to do," Blackburn said. "Amanda didn’t have an enemy in the world. I can’t imagine any reason why. That’s why this has baffled us as much as anybody."

Meanwhile, police in Indiana have revealed surveillance images of the man they say invaded the Blackburns' Indianapolis and shot Amanda Blackburn in the head while her infant slept.

The black and white images were taken by a security camera mounted on a neighbor's home last week following the murder of 28-year-old Blackburn.

They show a suspect from behind wearing a hoodie. Police have described the suspect as a black male between 5'4" to 5'9" with a slim to medium build.

Mr. Blackburn admitted the police have not provided much in the way of details to him and his family, but said "we’re trusting the investigators. They’ve been so good to us through this whole process, trying to keep us up to speed on what they have."

Blackburn was shot in the head Nov. 10, reportedly as she tried to defend her one-year-old son, Weston. Amanda passed away on Thursday. She was 12 weeks pregnant with their second child, according to friends and family.

The couple's one-year-old son was home at the time of the shooting, but he was not hurt, police said.

The young family had recently moved to the area, where Davey Blackburn serves as Pastor of Resonate Church, cops said.

“It’s impossible to communicate all the emotions my heart has been forced to process. My wife was such a beautiful, gracious, loving woman of God. I have not only lost my ministry partner and support but also my very best friend,” Davey Blackburn said in a statement on the church’s website.

“There is no way to prepare yourself for circumstances like these. As deeply as I am hurting I am hopeful and confident that good things will come of this."
