Cops: Duo Attacks Disabled Man Before Posting Video of the Assault to His Facebook Page

The victim, who has cerebral palsy, had his cell phone stolen from his apartment and he was beaten in a stairwell when he followed the burglars.

Two men allegedly beat a disabled Michigan man and used the phone they stole from him to record the attack on video, which they then posted to his Facebook page, officials said.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responding to a possible assault found a man beaten in front of his home at the Phoenix Place Apartments in Pontiac around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The 23-year-old victim, who has cerebral palsy, told deputies two men stole his cellphone while he was inside his apartment.

When the man followed the two men out, they attacked him inside a stairwell in the complex, according to police.

One suspect punched the man, knocking him to the ground and then repeatedly kicked him and spit on him while the other suspect filmed the attack on the man’s cellphone, video of the incident showed.

The pair then allegedly posted the video of the attack on the victim’s Facebook page as well as their own pages, officials said.

Nikey Dashone Walker and Shadeed Dontae Bey, both 20, were arrested on Monday for the attack and were charged with home invasion, unarmed robbery and aggravated assault, the department said.

Walker has a past conviction for unlawful driving of an automobile. Bey has past convictions in North Carolina, which include felony larceny, trespassing, possession of stolen goods, possession of controlled substance and resisting arrest.

The victim’s phone was found in one of the suspect’s apartments, police said.

Preying on those in our community who suffer from disabilities will not be tolerated and furthermore, to have the audacity to post their actions on the victim’s page is beyond belief,” Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said in a statement, going on to call the suspects “cowards.”

Walker and Bey were arraigned Tuesday at 50th District Court in the City of Pontiac. Both received a $25,000 bond.

Their next court date is December 8. It was not immediately clear if they had attorneys.

Cerebral Palsy is a neurological disorder that can affect body movement and muscle coordination.
