Mom Arrested for Allegedly Scrubbing Her Son's Face With Brillo Pad to Remove Eye Makeup

The Georgia woman allegedly told police she was unhappy with her 12-year-old son's "rock and roll phase."

A Georgia woman was arrested for allegedly scrubbing her 12-year-old son’s face with a Brillo pad for wearing eye makeup and dressing differently.

Veridiana Erbksom, 47, faces child cruelty charges after she allegedly took the cleaning product made of steel wool and soap to her child’s face because she was unhappy with his “rock and roll phase,” Fox 5 reported.

The boy had reportedly begun wearing a leather jacket, attempted to dye his hair red and started using eye liner, which Erbskom allegedly told police she had tried removing with the scouring pad.

Deputies from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call made by the preteen’s sibling, who police said was out of state.

When officials arrived at the home, they discovered a Brillo pad and a bar of soap, according to the television station.

The boy was taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital, where medical staff reportedly told investigators the boy had soap residue on his face and scratches on one eye.

The extent of the damage to the child’s eye was not immediately clear.

Erbskorn was charged with two counts of child cruelty, battery and reckless conduct, officials said. It was not immediately clear if she had an attorney or if she had entered a plea.

Her son was allowed to return to his home, but the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services have been alerted about the incident, Fox 5 wrote.
