New Year's Twins Born Three Minutes, and A Year Apart

They are newborn twins with different birthdays, and born in different years.

Meet Jaelyn Valenica, older by three minutes, and Luis Valencia Jr., the newest offspring of Maribel and Luis.

Jaelyn arrived at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.  Luis came into the world at 12:02 a.m. Friday.  She weighed in at four pounds, 15 ounces. He tipped the scales at five pounds, nine ounces, according to NBC 7 in San Diego.

They also constitute the last baby born in San Diego in 2015 and the county’s first baby born in 2016.

They have a three-year-old sister named Isabella.

Staff at Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center took the babies early by C-section because one was in the breech position, the hospital stated.

The babies and their mother are doing well.
