A teenager was shot in the back by two men who were trying to steal her hoverboard, according to reports.
The 16-year-old girl was returning to an apartment in Atlanta on Saturday when a man in dark clothing tried forcing his way through the door, AJC.com reported.
The teen threw the hoverboard at a man and shut the door, but a suspect fired a shot through the door, officials said. The bullet reportedly went through a wall and was found on a stove.
Police are searching for the men, who ran off with the hoverboard.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
She was shot in the lower back and the bullet came out of her side, her uncle told Channel 2 Action News.
“He (the gunman) just said, ‘Give it up,’” the girl’s brother told the television station.
She had been returning to the apartment from a nearby gas station. She had been riding the hoverboard, which was a Christmas present, he said.
