A severed foot was found on a Bay Area subway track just days after a woman fell in a train's path and lost part of her leg.

A Bay Area Rapid Transition station was closed Monday after a severed foot was found on the tracks, authorities said.

The macabre discovery was made by subway workers and briefly shut down a Berkeley, California, station while the remains were collected.

The body part is believed to belong to a woman who fell onto the tracks 22 days ago and lost part of her leg, officials said.

The woman survived.

A professional service disposed of the foot, the Los Angeles Times reported.
