Remember the severely burned little girl who only wanted cards for Christmas? She's still getting them. More than one million of them.
They're still coming from around the world. Safyre Terry, 8, is getting so many that volunteers are working 12-hour shifts sorting all the mail, which numbers 1.7 million and counting.
The New York child was burned and disfigured in a 2013 arson fire that killed her father and three siblings. She was the lone survivor.
Safyre, who now lives with her aunt, had said all she wanted for Christmas was cards to fill her card tree.
A Facebook post about her wish went viral, starting an avalanche of cards and letters.
She even received one from the White House.
“You sound like such a brave girl, and you have inspired so many people around the world, including the president and me,” Michelle Obama wrote, according to WIVB-TV.
The Schenectady girl also got missives from Dolly Parton and Katy Perry. Gifts and donations also poured in. Her family has donated many of those gifts to charity and the Westchester burn unit where she was treated for burns that covered 75 percent of her body.
Her address is P.O. Box 6126, Schenectady, NY, 12306.
