Don't Be Left Out in the Cold! Singles Turn to Dating Apps For 'Blizzard Buddies'

Apps and websites see an influx of users during winter storms.

The upcoming snowstorm might be the next best place to meet that special someone, as singles readying for the flurry also begin to search for a blizzard buddy.

Dating sites and apps across a big chunk of the country predict a jump in activity during the impending storm, as they report previous snowfalls led to significant increases in connections.

Match.com reported a 60 percent jump in activity during snowstorm Juno last winter.

"When they look out the window in the morning, they don't have to go to work, they have got the three days, they notice they have nobody with them. Suddenly, they get an energy, curiosity and they go online," Dr. Helen Fisher, Chief Scientific Advisor to Match.com told INSIDE EDITION.

The dating app Hinge had a 47 percent jump in activity during Juno.

On Craigslist, INSIDE EDITION found a post that said: "A storm is coming, let's heat things up."

It's not just singles; married couples also make the most of a bad snow storm.
