Arizona's outspoken and anti-immigrant sheriff Joe Arpaio has endorsed Donald Trump, his longtime buddy, for president.
The Maricopa County Sheriff, whose jurisdiction includes Phoenix, arrived in Iowa Tuesday evening to throw his support behind the bombastic billionaire who hopes to capture the Republican nomination.
"Donald Trump is a leader. He produces results and s ready to get tough in order to protect American jobs and families, the conservative sheriff said in a statement.
"I have fought on the front lines to prevent illegal immigration. I know Donald Trump will stand with me and countless Americans to secure our border, said Arpaio.
"I am proud to support him as the best candidate for President of the United States of America," he added.

His ringing endorsement was Tuesday's second backing from the ultra-right. Liberty University's Jerry Falwell Jr. also lent his public support to Trump earlier in the day, calling the bombastic hotel owner "a successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.”
Great honor- Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr. of Liberty University, one of the most respected religious leaders in our nation, has just endorsed me!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 26, 2016
Falwell, son of the late televangelist who was loudly gainst gay rights, had been expected to endorse Trump since praising the candidate during an appearance at the Virginia campus last week.
