Firefighters Rescue Dog From Freezing Lake After She Slipped Through Thin Ice

Members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department came to the rescue of Angel, who had slipped through ice into freezing water in a Virginia lake.

Emergency responders came to the rescue of a pup that had slipped through ice into the freezing water in a Virginia lake, putting their own lives on the line to pull the dog to safety.

Members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department waded into chilly water to reach a fluffy pooch, named Angel, as she teetered on the edge of a sheet of ice on Wednesday, video footage of the incident shows.

As the dog struggled to stay above surface, the men in yellow wet suits worked their way through the broken ice and grabbed ahold of the nervous canine.

Though she squirmed in her rescuer’s arms, the scared and soggy Angel quickly scrambled up to safety when she was put back on land.

Angel was reunited with her owner shortly after being rescued, officials said.

The emergency responders were lauded for their efforts, with supporters calling the men Angel’s angels.

“God bless these folks for all they do!” one person wrote on the video.

Another person wrote: “Thank you for saving this poor scared pup. Firefighters rock!!!”
