Emergency responders came to the rescue of a pup that had slipped through ice into the freezing water in a Virginia lake, putting their own lives on the line to pull the dog to safety.

Members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department waded into chilly water to reach a fluffy pooch, named Angel, as she teetered on the edge of a sheet of ice on Wednesday, video footage of the incident shows.
