Celine Dion Performs Her First Show Since Losing Her Husband Rene Angelil

Celine Dion returned to the stage for the first time since losing her husband to cancer.

Celine Dion returned to the stage on Tuesday night for her first performance since her husband René Angélil lost his battle to cancer last month.

The Canadian singer received a rousing standing ovation from the Las Vegas audience at Caesars Palace.

The show opened with a tribute to René, who had managed the “Power of Love” singer since 1981.

When she sang "All By Myself, she was unable to finish but the crowd cheered her on.

She told them: “Through my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here night after night.”

But she said she still feels him by her side, saying: “He's always been on stage with me and nothing will ever change that.”

She said he would have wanted her back on stage doing what she does best.

René Angélil, who was married to Dion for 21 years, passed away from throat cancer on January 14, aged 73. Dion, 47, had put her Caesars Palace residency on hold to care for him.
