"It was an easy, normal day," Patel said. She was working alone because her husband and business partner was out of town.

She saw a man outside, asking delivery men for change.

She was suspicious, but rang up his purchase of a soda when he came inside.

"I opened my register, and he showed me his gun." Patel said.

"I said, 'If you want to shoot it, go ahead and shoot it. Who's stopping you?'"  She says she slapped his gun away as he ran out with some cash.

She chased him with her hammer, then called authorities. The man was apprehended, she said.
