A Maine woman has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault after she allegedly stabbed her husband, then stabbed him again as she drove him to the hospital, police said.
Tracy Fleischer, 34, is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail at the Kennebec County Jail.
“These people are witnesses, your honor,” said Assistant District Attorney Francis Griffin.
Fleischer was charged with elevated aggravated assault (domestic violence), and aggravated assault for Friday's alleged attack.
It was not clear whether she has entered a plea. According to online jail records, she remains in custody.
Griffin said in court that Fleischer called for help while she drove her husband to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, and acknowledged stabbing her husband.
Fleischer said she threw the knife out of her vehicle, the prosecutor said.
The husband, who suffered serious injuries including knicked internal organs, is expected to recover, Griffin told the court on Monday.
A daughter of the couple told police her father often hides kitchen knives because of past violence by her mother, according to an arrest affidavit, the news site reported.
The girl said she heard her father screaming "No, no, no" and looked to see her mother stabbing her dad in the torso with a newly purchased butcher knife, the document said.
The wife was allegedly upset about something the victim had posted on Instagram, according to authorities.
The daughter dragged her father out of their apartment by his bloody shirt, then ran and locked the door to her bedroom, police said.
Fleischer drove her husband to the hospital, and stabbed him in the leg along the way, police said.
