After four years of trying to get on the show, Robert Santoli gives a jaw dropping performance that left even host Pat Sajak stunned.

Armed with only an ampersand and the letter "D," Santoli hit his button, indicating he wanted to guess the response.

"I think Pat thought I didn't mean to [hit the button,]" Santoli told InsideEdition.com.

But Santoli immediately knew the answer: "Port & Starboard".

Santoli didn't stop there. In the show, which aired last Friday, he wowed the audience and fellow contestants with more stunning answers.

"As soon as they went to commercial, [the other contestants] would keep saying 'Wow that's amazing,'" Santoli said. "But you could tell by their facial expressions they just wanted to slap me."

Santoli admitted that he had spent time studying previous episodes, and compiled a four-page list of past answers.

He showed InsideEdition.com the words, "Port & Starboard," highlighted on the first page.
