In the series, he was played by actor Nathan Lane.

"The producers decided to leave out decisive pieces of evidence that were favorable and frankly, caused the jury to acquit," Bailey said. "I think overall, it was a disservice."

It was Bailey who trapped Det. Mark Fuhrman into perjuring himself on the witness stand. It was also Bailey who tricked prosecutor Chris Darden into asking Simpson to try on the bloody gloves.

"I walked over to Darden during a recess and I gave him a mild insult saying that he had very little courage," Bailey recalled. "When Judge Ito came back into the courtroom, he cast his fate in stone."

Bailey, now 82, now in the small town of Yarmouth, Maine.

Bailey said that Travolta nailed Robert Shapiro in the series.

"He looked and talked and acted like Bob Shapiro. He captured him," he said.

He was disbarred for misconduct in unrelated cases in 2001 in Florida and in Massachusetts 2003.
