David Gest, a music producer and former husband of Liza Minnelli, died in his London hotel room on Tuesday morning. He was 62.
He was staying at the Four Seasons at Canary Wharf when police were called to the scene.
Ironically, Gest was set to produce a summer tour in the U.K. named, "David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With A Soul," featuring performances by several soul artists including Deniece Williams, Peabo Bryson, and Grammy winning Billy Paul.
Gest was known to have been a close friend of Michael Jackson, and produced the 2011 Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon, as well as the 2001 Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration.
He made headlines on tabloid magazines for his brief marriage to Liza Minnelli. The two reportedly met during his work in Hollywood and married in 2002 before splitting up after 18 months. The couple officially divorced in 2007.
The American man was also known for his appearance on British reality series Celebrity Big Brother and the first season of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
