Kelly Ripa Jets to Turks and Caicos With Husband Amid 'Live!' Debacle

The trip comes on the heels of news that her Live! co-host Michael Strahan is leaving the show to move to Good Morning America.

Kelly Ripa was seen heading to the airport on Thursday morning to fly to Turks and Caicos with her husband Mark Consuelos and their three kids.

The trip comes on the heels of news that her Live! co-host Michael Strahan is leaving the show to move to Good Morning America.

Ripa was already scheduled to go away for a long weekend on Friday to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary. However, she reportedly left a day early and is still “livid” at being “blindsided” at Strahan's move.

Thursday morning marked the second day Ripa failed to show up to Live! since the announcement. Instead, Erin Andrews hosted with Strahan. There was no other mention of Ripa’s absence.

Andrews will fill in Thursday and Friday while Pretty Little Liars' star Shay Mitchell will co-host Monday.

Ripa is scheduled to return to her hosting duties on Tuesday.

DailyMail.com reporter Chris Spargo says Ripa “threw a fit” after Strahan told her he was going fulltime to Good Morning America just moments before it was announced to the world on Tuesday.

Howard Stern spoke about the drama on his SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday, saying: “If you're hosting a show you don’t want to feel like everyone was plotting behind your back. I get her point.”

Oprah seems to agree, telling Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday: “Blindsided is never good. I don’t know who’s in charge, but somebody should’ve said, ‘This is gonna happen.’ You shouldn’t have to read it in the paper. Ever.”

This wouldn't be Ripa’s first dramatic breakup with a co-host.

In 2015, four years after Regis Philbin left Live!, he spoke about his relationship with Kelly Ripa on Hoda Kotb’s SiriusXM show.

She asked: "What about Kelly? How often do you see her or speak to her?”

“I haven't seen her. I don't see her,” he said.

A shocked Kotb replied: “You haven't seen her since the show ended?”

“No. I haven't,” he answered.
