Amal Clooney Says She's 'Perplexed' By Trump's Popularity

The wife of George Clooney is hoping Hillary Clinton gets the presidency.

Amal Clooney says she cannot fathom how Donald Trump is the Republican front-runner.

“I'm probably as perplexed as you are as somebody viewing these things,” she said in Monday night’s interview with the BBC.

The human rights attorney, who, along with her husband George Clooney, has hosted fundraising events for Hillary Clinton, says she doesn't expect Trump to win many female votes.

“If, at the end of all of this, he gets beaten by the person who becomes the first female president of the United States, then I think that would send a very positive message from the electorate back to him as to what they really think of those points of view,” she said.

In the interview, she also blasted his immigration platform – and didn’t mince her words.

She called the GOP frontrunner “a xenophobic fascist” and an “opportunist.”

Amal also called the upcoming U.S. presidential election “very critical, perhaps more than in many other elections that have happened for a very long time.”
