The tour group was admiring a pod of dolphins swimming and jumping through the water in Sian Ka'an, Mexico when one particularly energetic dolphin launched itself and landed on the deck.

The dolphin initially tried to wriggle out of the boat but soon realized it was trapped, footage shows.

As the tourists watched, guides soon calmed the dolphin by covering its face and gently lifting it back into the water.

The group applauded as the dolphin swam away and reunited with its friends.

The video, which was filmed last summer, was posted to YouTube by Dutch tourist Louis Fikkert.
