Organizers say 22 veterans take their own lives every day.

Could you do 22 push-ups? How about for a good cause?

The "22 Push-Up Challenge" is sweeping the nation and organizers say they hope to raise awareness about suicide among veterans. Every day, 22 veterans take their own lives, according to the group behind the challenge, 22KILL.

Like the Ice Bucket Challenge, those who take part nominate others to take part – and viral videos show how Marines, middle schoolers and medical students have all been getting involved.

One video documents a man completing 22 push-ups in 22 different locations over 22 days, while another shows a young woman who felt compelled to complete the challenge while balancing a sword on her head.

Other videos, which are being shared on social media with the hashtag #22Kill, show young men and women from the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and students at the University of Virginia School of Medicine taking on the challenge.

Those who complete it are encouraged to donate $10 to a veterans’ charity, while those who fail must hand over $22.
