Is This the Most Cheerful Robber Ever? FBI Catches Smiling Suspect in TD Bank Heist

Surveillance cameras were rolling as the suspect, sporting a bright yellow shirt and an ear-to-ear grin, handed the teller a note demanding cash.

Authorities in Florida may now have the chance to wipe the smile off this cheerful bank bandit's face.

The robbery occurred Thursday morning at a TD Bank location in Plantation, about 30 miles from Miami, according to the FBI.

Surveillance cameras were rolling as the unknown man, who was sporting a bright yellow shirt and an ear-to-ear grin, handed the teller a note demanding cash.

While he may have looked friendly, the note indicated that he had a weapon, the FBI said.

Another camera caught the jovial crook as he waltzed out of the bank with some cash and the same carefree smile.

No bank customers were harmed during the heist, and the FBI would not say how much cash was taken.

But the alleged robber couldn't hide behind that smile forever, as Special Agent Michael Leverock of the South Florida FBI field office told InsideEdition.com they have made an arrest in the case.

Jonathan D. Bumgardner, 26, was taken into custody by the South Florida Violent Crime Task Force. He is expected to appear in Fort Lauderdale Federal Court on Monday.

There was no word on whether Bumgardner smiled for a mugshot, which was not made available.
