Dad Who Took 14-Year-Old Pregnant Daughter to Marry Her Rapist Gets 120 Days in Jail

An Idaho dad gets jail time after admitting in court he took his pregnant teen daughter to marry her rapist.

A father in Idaho has been sentenced to 120 days in jail for taking his 14-year-old daughter to Missouri to marry the 24-year-old man who raped her and got her pregnant.

The man pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of injuring a child in a plea deal, the Idaho State Journal reported Tuesday.  His sentence is roughly the same amount of time the girl and the man were married.

“I would note that the 120 days is approximately how long this vile farce of a marriage lasted. While you sit in jail, you will sit and think about the 120 days your daughter was in a vile farce of a marriage to a rapist because of you,” said Seventh District Judge Gregory Moeller, the paper reported.

InsideEdition.com is not naming the father or the man to protect the identity of the girl.

The groom has already pleaded guilty to a felony count of harming a child after acknowledging he had sex with the girl and had impregnated her. He was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison, with three years fixed and 12 years indeterminate.

“Clearly, your daughter underwent great bodily harm based on some of your choices,” Moeller told the father. “When you’re dealing with a man 10 years older than your daughter, and she’s only 14  that defies all common sense and all decency. This isn’t naiveté. This is just wrong thinking.”

The dad said he believed a man should marry a girl he gets pregnant.

The girl and the man met because their families worked together. The sexual contact began in 2015, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.

At a family meeting convened after the girl became pregnant, she and the man said they wanted to marry and were in love, the girl’s stepmother testified.

In August 2015, the father drove the two to Missouri, where 14-year-olds can be married with parental permission under certain circumstances.

The girl and the man lived there for a short time before returning to Idaho. When the pregnancy ended in miscarriage, the girl’s mother filed for an annulment.

The man was charged with felony rape in September 2015. He was sentenced in April after pleading guilty to the lesser charge.
