Amber Alert Issued for 3 Children Believed to Be Traveling With Accused Child Molester

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Lewis "Louie" Dunn, 10, Kaylee Dunn, 9, and Kaydn Simon, 6, who were last seen early June.

Authorities are searching for three young children from Idaho who may be traveling with a suspected child molester.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Lewis “Louie” Dunn, 10, Kaylee Dunn, 9, and Kaydn Simon, 6, who is believed to have been taken by Sarah Joy VanOcker-Dunn and her boyfriend Jason “Travis” Simon.

The 37-year-old Caldwell man is reportedly suspected of child pornography, while officials said he has a $100,000 warrant out for his arrest on a charge of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16.

An investigation into Simon began in late May after the Ada County Sheriff’s Office was contacted with alleged evidence that showed Simon was producing child porn, according to the Idaho Statesmen.

Police believe the couple fled with the children a few weeks ago after realizing Simon was under investigation.

VanOcker-Dunn is Louie and Kaylee's adoptive parent, while Simon is Kaydn's father, authorities said.

“All three children are believed to be in imminent danger due to the circumstances,” said the Idaho Amber Alert, which also extended to Nevada.

Though the children were believed to have been taken weeks ago, the Amber Alert was only issued on Monday afternoon after a rally was formed at the Idaho Capitol Building by Louie and Kaylee’s adoptive father, Jesse Dunn.

“I want to get it out there,” Dunn told the Idaho Statesman. “I think if there was an Amber Alert we would be able to find our kids, and that’s the most important.”

Natalie Benson, the biological mother of Loui and Kaylee, said she was relieved that the alert was issued, but was frustrated that it took so long.

“We've been asking for it since the first day," she told the Statesman.

Police initially said the case did not warrant an Amber Alert since VanOcker-Dunn was the rightful guardian, but it was later discovered that she did not have permission to take the children out of state, according to the paper.

There is an outstanding $150,000 warrant for custodial interference.

The group is believed to be travelling in a gold 2006 Pontiac Montana with the license plate 2CJN683.

Sightings of the group have been reported in Arcada, California, on June 8 and in Sparks, Nevada, on June 12.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Caldwell Police Department at 208-454-7531 or contact the Idaho Sheriff’s Office at 208-577-3734.
