Firefighters Rescue Teen Girl Who Got Stuck in Barney Costume in Prank Gone Horribly Wrong

"I started feeling panicky. I got to the point I started feeling nauseous," said 15-year-old Darby Risner.

Who knew Barney the Dinosaur could be so scary?

Darby Risner, a teen from Trussville, Alabama, thought it would be funny to put on the head of the beloved purple dinosaur and sneak up on her friends.

But the joke was on her, as she quickly realized she was stuck.

Darby, 15, told InsideEdition.com that the Barney costume was purchased by a local pastor years ago. She remembered wearing the entire suit in 7th grade that has since been passed among her friends.

When she was at a friend's house, she said, "I saw the head. I was like, 'You know what, I'm going to put it on.'"

"My intent was to scare the other girls," Darby said, but when she rejoined the party, she was met with laughter instead of screams.

Brushing it off, she stayed in the head for the next few minutes until it got hot, and she was ready to be free of the purple dinosaur.

But taking the costume head off quickly became a team effort once she realized she was unable to wiggle herself out of it.

They tugged, and even greased her in Vaseline, but the Barney head wouldn't budge.

"I started getting panicky," Darby told InsideEdition.com. "I got to the point I started feeling nauseous."

Finally, they decided to drive to the fire department in a last ditch effort to avoid the inevitable scene of lights and sirens in front of their house.

"They were amazed, they thought it was hilarious," Darby said.

But the teen clearly wasn't amused: "I felt like no one took it serious."

Nearly an hour later, the firefighters cut her free, and she's never felt better.

When she finally saw the pictures of the ordeal, which her friends posted to Snapchat and Twitter, she began cracking up.

She even said her favorite of the memes created by strangers all over the internet had to be the one of her as a dinosaur from Jurassic Park.
