She was out with family and was trying get out of the way of oncoming hikers when she tripped and plummeted over the edge, her family said.

Grand Canyon National Park Service authorities announced the woman’s death Monday. She fell on Friday. An autopsy will be conducted by Arizona’s Coconino County medical examiner.

“She was stepping out of the way for another gentleman to kind of squeeze in, and unfortunately, Colleen kind of got tripped up in her own feet and fell backwards, fell into the canyon,” friend Jessica Roman, who was on vacation with Burns, told WESH-TV.

“That was the longest, strangest, craziest two seconds of my life,” Roman said.
