Before showing off her talents, the 21-year-old told the judges: "I want to be a backup dancer for Beyoncé. I feel like that's every dancer's secret dream is to be a backup dancer for Beyoncé, especially with her new tour."

She then broke out into a dance from the NBC series Smash.

Shields was asked by the judges — Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas and singer Ciara — a variety of topics from politics to making better food choices.

By the end of the show, it was the Arkansas native taking home the crown.

Finishing behind Shields were runners-up Miss South Carolina Rachel Wyatt, Miss New York Camille Sims, Miss Washington Alicia Cooper and Miss Mississippi Laura Lee Lewis.

The first openly-gay Miss America candidate, Miss Missouri Erin O’Flaherty, was eliminated before the televised event.

Prior to naming the new Miss America, the judges stole the show, thanks to their unforgettable reactions to the talent portion of the competition.

Cuban looked shocked during Miss New York's performance.

One viewer tweeted: “Mark Cuban the look on your face is priceless.”
