A 7-year-old's father and his girlfriend have been formally charged in the little's girl death after her body was found in a lake.

A little girl’s father and his girlfriend have been charged in connection with the murder of the 7-year-old, whose body was found under a bridge in June, according to reports.

Michael Wash and LaSherae Davis, of Georgia, were arrested in connection with the death of Wash’s daughter, 7-year-old Kamaire Wash, whose body was found in Allatoona Lake in June.

Wash reportedly called police on June 30 saying that Kamaire was missing. In a 911 call released by Atlanta police, Wash said, “She was last seen here in my house, here this morning or last night. I’m sorry.”

He reportedly told police that she went to bed early and wandered off in her pajamas.

On June 29, 12 hours before Wash made the call, however, the body of a young girl was pulled from the lake and it was later confirmed to be Kamaire’s, according to the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

She was already deceased when her father filed the missing child report, according to reports.

In an interview with WGCL in the beginning of July, Kamaire’s mother, Kashira Pettigrew said she believed Wash and his live-in girlfriend were responsible for the murder.

"I believe they killed my baby. I do, I sure do. Why would they do a baby like that? She was only 7, had a beautiful heart, beautiful spirit,” Pettigrew said.

Pettigrew also said that that Kamaire had only been living with her father for about a year.

A grand jury formally indicted the couple Thursday. Wash was indicted on charges of murder, aggravated assault, first degree cruelty to children, making false statements and concealing the death of another.

He was initially not charged with murder after his arrest, according to reports.

Davis was indicted on charges of first degree cruelty to children, making false statements, and concealing the death of another.

According to the indictment, Michael Wash beat Kamaire, striking her with "an object or objects" with enough force to seriously injure her. The indictment also says Wash and Davis both neglected to seek medical care for Kamarie at that point.

Pettigrew told reporters that Davis should also be charged with murder.

"She is just as responsible as a mother, as a woman," she said.
