American Horror Stormy: Creepy Satellite Image of Hurricane Matthew Is the Stuff of Nightmares

Some radar imagery of the storm barreling toward Florida makes Matthew look fit for both hurricane and haunting season.

'Tis the season for both hurricanes and Halloween, and the storm currently barreling toward Florida is fit for both.

First captured by the NASA Earth Science Office, the image has gone viral across a nation bracing for its impact after it was first spotted by senior meteorologist at the Weather Channel Stu Ostro.

Matthew made landfall as a category 4 storm in Haiti, where it lashed the impoverished island with 140 MPH winds Tuesday.

The hurricane continued on toward Cuba, where it brushed the island's eastern tip at about 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Bahamas and southeast Floridians were braced for major impact and winds in excess of 74 MPH possible.

After it rumbles up Florida's east coast, meteorologists aren't as sure what path Matthew will take. 

Current predictions place Matthew's most likely path along the southeastern U.S. coast before heading off the North Carolina coast toward Bermuda sometime Sunday.
