A Texas middle school teacher was arrested Monday for allegedly killing his two neighbors during a Halloween party, according to Fort Worth police.
Cedar Hill ISD middle school teacher Cary Heath, 35, was charged with murder in the deaths of Daniel Haros and Phillip Evans early Monday morning.
According to a police report, Heath and his wife, Tiffany, were at a neighbor’s Halloween party when Haros and Evans stopped by and had a “friendly and cordial” conversation with Heath.
Haros and Evans were reportedly at the party for less than five minutes when Heath walked to his house and allegedly got a rifle. His wife Tiffany was still at the party.
According to a 911 caller, multiple gunshots were heard quickly after. The caller told police that he saw a white male hitting one of the victims with the butt of the rifle.
The report said that the 911 caller yelled for Heath to stop but Heath allegedly pointed the weapon at the caller and asked if they had a problem.
Heath then allegedly ran into the neighbor’s house and said, “this is the last time I will see the baby. I killed two people," referring to his one year old.
Tiffany reportedly told police Cary admitted to the murders and asked her to clean the blood in the gun safe where he kept firearms, police said.
When police arrived, they said they found the two men dead in the driveway.
According to the medical examiner, Evans and Haros died of multiple gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma to the head and face.
A motive for the murders is not yet clear.
Candice Morrison, who went to high school with Heath, and spoke with him last week on Facebook, told InsideEdition.com “He was a pretty decent guy. I never thought anything bad of him.”
Another friend of Heath, Phineas O'Brien, said he thinks medications may have something to do with his actions.
"Ive never seen him angry," O'Brien told InsideEdition.com. "Either that or something else happened. I know he and I had a good talk about medicine for anxiety. I'm at a bit of a loss."
Heath is currently being held on $1 million bond.
