Man Who Allegedly Destroyed Donald Trump's Star on Walk of Fame is Arrested

James Otis, who had admitted to reporters that he was the man donning a city worker's uniform as he tore up the star, was arrested without incident.

A man who cops say destroyed Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was busted Thursday, a day after laying waste to the symbol of Tinseltown notoriety with a pickaxe and sledgehammer.

James Otis, who had admitted to reporters that he was the man donning a city worker's uniform Wednesday as he tore up the star, was arrested without incident, according to TMZ

Otis was reportedly planning to turn himself in, but not before holding a press conference on the Walk of Fame, where a new Trump star has already replaced the one he allegedly busted the day before.

But cops, eager to avoid any further spectacle from Otis, arrested him at a friend's home before he could address reporters, the Los Angeles Times reported

He is likely to be charged with felony vandalism.

Hours after the crime, Otis admitted to media outlets that he was responsible, saying he has no regrets, and he doesn't care if he goes to jail.

Otis said he destroyed the star to draw attention to women who have been victimized by sexual assault, and to benefit the women accusing Donald Trump of sexual misconduct.

“The reason I did it was because of the amount of sexual assaults that not only my own family has experienced, but the many women that Donald Trump has done this to,” Otis told TMZ in the video.

“The point of the exercise was to take the star and auction it off and take that money and distribute it to the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump.”

Video of Otis hacking at the star with the pickaxe and sledgehammer was posted by Deadline.

What appears to be the final act of vandalism on the billionaire's star comes after months of reports of less permanent acts of aggression against it.

A swastika was spray-painted on the star at one point in the drawn out 2016 election. An artist also erected a wall around the star, which was meant to evoke Trump's proposed barrier between the U.S. and Mexico.

Trump was given the star in 2007 for his work on The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice.
