Man Tries to Smuggle Meth Across Mexican Border by Wrapping Drug in Tortillas: Feds
A 62-year-old man was arrested after he tried to smuggle nearly three pounds of crystal meth inside corn tortillas, federal officials said.
The man was stopped at the Morley Pedestrian crossing in Nogales, Arizona, after sniffer dogs detected something in packages the man was carrying, according to border officials.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents discovered the illegal drugs stuffed inside hollowed-out tortillas, according to a statement released Monday by the border agency.
The find was followed by another bust in the same area, officials said. An American citizen living in Mexico was arrested after attempting to cross the border into Nogales with nearly $78,000 worth of meth stashed in his SUV, according to federal officials.
Neither man arrested was identified by border authorities. Both men were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
