Thieves Steal $30G in Diamond Rings While Jeweler's Back is Turned

Police in California are in search of two men who they say appear in video running off with thousands in jewels at a Corona mall.

Police in Southern California are on the lookout for two men who they say appear in shocking surveillance video that shows the theft of $30,000 in jewels.

The suspects are seen in crystal-clear footage as they ask to see rings at Franzia Jewels, inside a Corona grocery store Monday afternoon.

As the owner's wife briefly turns her back, one of the men deftly swipes an entire tray from behind the glass and they flee.

"These men have been targeting little jewelry stores and grabbing whatever they can," owner Hugo Franzia told InsideEdition.com. "Same vehicle, same description."

Franzia said the men were smooth operators who are "very relaxed" and "know what they're doing."

"They trick clerks into showing them jewelry, they ask 'are these real diamonds' with jewelry they've stolen elsewhere and $5,000 gold chains — trying to make [salespeople] feel like they have money."

Though his wife did not open the case of the store's most expensive items for the men, they were able to set Mrs. Franzia enough at ease that she turned away from the open case.

While her mistake was brief, it was long enough to cost the Franzias what they estimate to be $25,000. "For a little store, that's a huge loss," Franzia said.

But if there's a silver lining to this tale — the suspects may have robbed their last jeweler in the area.

Thanks to Franzia's state-of-the-art surveillance cameras, Corona police have identified the suspects as Deanthony Blocker and Dajuan Robinson.

The men are also wanted for questioning by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office and Chino Police Department.

"If nothing else, all the other stores here will now feel safer," said Franzia, who said he finally got a promise of a greater police presence in the area after the robbery after approaching the chief of police following the robbery. "Corona is a good city. We all love the city. But everybody's gotta do their part."
