A debate is sparked over comments First Lady Michelle Obama made about breast feeding. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
"We're also setting a goal to increase breast feeding rates to help children get a healthy start in life."
Little could First Lady Michelle Obama have dreamed that with those words, she would trigger a firestorm of controversy over, of all things, breast feeding!
Sarah Palin quickly weighed in with a joke at the First Lady's expense, saying, "It's no wonder Michelle Obama is telling everyone you better breast feed your babies, because I'm with ya', I'm going, yeah ya' better because the price of milk is so high right now."
Minnesota Republican and Tea Party favorite Michele Bachmann said on Good Morning America, "I've given birth to five children myself. I strongly believe in breast feeding."
But Bachmann challenged the First Lady for a different reason. She says the government's plan to offer tax breaks for purchasing breast pumps would create nothing less than a "nanny state."
"The tax code is used by the government as social engineering," said Bachmann.
Karin Tanabe from Politico told INSIDE EDITION, "Some people are raising their eyebrows and saying, 'How are we even talking about this?' This is such a personal decision, it shouldn't be political at all."
There's only one sure thing about this issue—both sides will milk it for all it's worth.
