In a disturbing video that surfaced online, police in Florida can be seen carelessly dropping a double-leg amputee to the floor outside a local gas station.
In the video, provided to InsideEdition.com by witness Jay King, Miami police handcuff the disabled woman, who is also reportedly homeless, and left her on the dirty pavement even as she asked them to help her get up.
“Now you get me up off this ground,” the woman, who has been identified as 52-year-old Mary Brown, is heard saying. “You slammed me down on this ground. Imma have both of you in trouble."
"No you’re not," one of the officers responds. "You did this!"
The whole ordeal was caught on camera then posted to Facebook, where it has been viewed more than 20,000 times.
Police alleged that Brown was harassing customers and begging for money. After officers told her she was under arrest, cops said Brown became “uncooperative,” according to the Miami-Herald.
King, who witnessed and recorded the scene, said the woman is always around the store.
"Just want to see human beings get treated like human beings," King told InsideEdition.com. "Hopefully this [video] can raise a little more awareness."
Brown was taken to jail in an ambulance. The court put a stay on her trespassing charge, according to reports.
Police later released a statement about the video:
"Command level personnel have viewed the video along with the officers’ body worn camera footage and after reviewing the incident, have realized that as an agency we need to provide our law enforcement officers additional resources to aid them in facilitating the transport of disabled individuals, so that situations such as these are handled in a more amicable manner in the future.”
