Inside Edition’s chief investigative correspondent Lisa Guerrero is known for getting to the root of a problem in her stories, but another one of her passions may surprise you.
Guerrero makes festive table settings that are perfect for the holidays. It's the inspiration for her new book, Jewelry for Your Table: How to Make One of a Kind Napkin Rings From Vintage Pieces.
“My Jewelry for Your Table napkin rings started out a as Christmas pins but so many people loved the idea of vintage broaches that I was able to create different themes,” she said.
Two such themes are nautical and floral.
“The pins I find that work the best are the same size, all the same metal color, silver or gold,” she said.
And you can make them for any occasion.
“Not all are girlie and feminine because some things I collect are masculine and look like medallions,” she said.
All of her creations are easy to make and won't cost a fortune.
“[Go through] your jewelry box and get out the pins collecting dust that your mom gave you or your grandmother gave you years ago,” she said. “Then you build up your collection by going to thrift stores [and] flea markets.”
Once you have the broaches, use pliers to break off the pin. Next, apply glue directly to the metal ring, which you can buy at a discount store, and place the vintage broach on top.
Then you have beautiful, customized jewelry for your table.
Jewelry for Your Table is available at bookstores, Amazon and at LisaGuerrero.com.
