An Orlando Chick-Fil-A is honoring the fallen officer who was killed Monday during a manhunt for a felon who allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend and another police officer.
Norman Lewis, an 11-year-veteran of the force, reportedly visited the fast food restaurant twice a week.
Lewis was assisting with the manhunt for 41-year-old Markeith Loyd, who police say shot and killed an officer who confronted him outside a Walmart store on Monday, when he was killed in car crash.
The staff decided to pay tribute to Lewis with that they called a “Missing Man Table,” draped in a white table cloth, with Lewis’ framed photo, a single rose, a bible, and a candle.
The table also had the empty containers for his favorite menu selection, a 12-count nugget meal with a fruit cup.
“For our restaurant, it is especially heartbreaking loosing (sic) such a loyal guest, a fellow UCF Knight, and a raving fan, Deputy Norm Lewis,” the location wrote on their Facebook page.” We've had the pleasure of serving Norm regularly for lunch... Deputy Lewis, a gentle giant, could always be seen cutting up with our cashiers.”
Police are still searching for Loyd and have raised the award to $100,000 for his capture.
