The president-elect and his wife have arrived in Washington, D.C., ahead of Friday’s Inauguration.
The Trumps touched down Thursday afternoon at Andrews Air Force Base inside a military jet. Barron Trump, 10, led the way as the entire Trump family emerged from the plane.
Until her arrival Thursday, Melania has been conspicuously missing from the pre-inaugural hoopla.
She said a few words at a luncheon held at the Trump International Hotel.
"It is great to be here. Thank you all for your support," she said.
She will remain in New York for at least the first few months of Trump's presidency while Barron finishes the school year.
"I think it is an inappropriate observation," Ivanka told ABC. "There is one first lady and I think she will do remarkable things."
Ivanka spoke to ABC's Deborah Roberts, whose special on the Trumps airs Friday on 20/20.
Roberts told Inside Edition: "In one of her unguarded moments she said 'it is a little sexist' that people are going to pit her against her stepmother. She is going to be a capable first lady."
