See Husband Weep For Joy As He Learns Missing Wife With Alzheimer's Has Been Found

Scott Kegelman has been married to Debreh Gilbert for 24 years.

A New York City husband's immense relief was caught on video after his wife, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was found after having been missing for days.

Scott Kegelman has been married to Debreh Gilbert for 24 years. The devoted husband wept with joy Wednesday as he was told in a phone call that Gilbert was safe at New York City hospital.

“You found her? I can’t believe it! Oh, fantastic, where is she? Where is she?” Kegelman said before the person on the other end informed him that his wife was at a St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.

Gilbert, who suffers from the debilitating form of dementia at the age of 63, had been in the hospital psych unit since Sunday.

Hospital personnel realized their patient was Kegelman's wife after nurse Shauna Hall recognized the missing woman from a TV news report.

"The name came up Gilbert and I was like, 'Oh my gosh I know this patient!' She is with us here at the hospital!" Hall told CBS New York.

Turns out the hospital had the wrong spelling of Gilbert's name, so she wasn't properly flagged as a missing person.

When husband and wife were finally reunited, Kegelman said she was just as ecstatic as he was when he learned she was okay.

"She was so happy to see me and I'm jumping up and down and whatnot," he said.

Kegelman said he doesn't know how his wife made it from their Upper West Side home to the Bronx but was deeply thankful for the eagle-eyed Hall.

"I got a lot of special angels but she's my new savior," he said.
