Man Beats and Chokes Mom, While Saying 'I Hope You Die' for Changing TV Channel: Cops

The Pennsylvania man was enraged after his mother changed the channel on the television, police said.

A 42-year-old Pennsylvania man beat and choked his mother into unconsciousness because she changed the television channel, police said.

David Cantrell was arrested on assault and harassment charges following an argument Sunday night at their Northampton County home, according to Moore Township Police.

Cantrell punched his mom in the face, hoisted her up, slammed her  onto the floor and choked her until she passed out, authorities said, according to The Associated Press.

“I hope you die,” he allegedly told her, police said.

The woman later went to a neighbor’s house pleading for help, authorities said.

He is being held at the Northampton County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to online records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 3.

A phone message left by InsideEdition.com with the Moore Township Police Tuesday was not immediately returned.
