Bauman lost both legs in the horrific terror attack. A grisly photo of him being wheeled from the carnage while clutching his bloodied limbs became one of the most memorable images from the 2013 explosions.

His determined recovery was chronicled step-by-step by media outlets, along with the birth of his daughter, Nora, who is now 2, and his marriage to Erin.

“They are dedicated to loving and parenting their daughter... and ask for privacy,” the couple’s statement said.

The announcement came just as a Hollywood movie about the two is about to be released.

“Stronger,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Bauman and Tatiana Maslany as Erin, is based on a book with the same name written by Bauman.

He was standing at the finish line waiting for Erin to complete the Boston Marathon, when the bombs planted by brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev went off.
