This 18-year-old dachshund may be getting up there in years, but he's proving that it's never too late to chase your dreams.
From attending baseball games and riding a Harley Davidson, Morgan from Fort Myers, Fla., is being treated to enough adventures for the rest of his lifetime, thanks to his foster mom, Kate Reidy.
“Morgan enjoys relaxing days filled with naps and walks outside, [but] when an opportunity arises to go on an adventure, he eagerly runs to the door,” Reidy told InsideEdition.com.
Reidy, 30, explained Morgan was turned over last year to Senior Paws Sanctuary, where she volunteers. The local shelter that turned him over explained his former owner had died, and Morgan had nowhere to go.
"Morgan has gotten livelier and more playful since he has been with us," she said.
So far, she said Morgan has feasted on doggy ice cream, visited a crime laboratory, was sworn in as an honorary junior deputy with the local sheriff’s office, tanned on a dog beach, and met Santa Claus.
He is even returning all the love and support he’s gotten from the community, by completing training to become a therapy dog at the local hospice home.
“I do think he enjoys his outings,” Reidy said.
Reidy explained even though they are unsure of his actual birthday, March 25 was the day the senior dachshund was turned over to the shelter and "was given a second chance at life," she said.
Any money contained within Morgan’s birthday cards will be donated to other hounds at the Senior Paws Society.
