Michael Kors, a noted Hillary Clinton supporter, has taken some heat for Melania Trump’s fashion choice, but wanted to make it clear that he didn't personally dress her for her appearance.

"Mrs. Trump has been a longtime client at our New York boutique," he told Inside Edition. “She has a keen understanding of what works best for her and her lifestyle. My embroidered black suit reflects the streamlined glamour that she is known for."

Mrs. Trump made a grand entrance Tuesday night, receiving a standing ovation in the glitzy $10,000 evening suit designed by Kors.

It was fresh off the runway and won't be in stores until next fall.

The suit had hand-embroidered, sequined flowers. Mrs. Trump wore it with a wide belt and chose not to wear a blouse underneath the jacket.

Reaction to her outfit was mixed.

"Beautiful tailored ensemble, elegant and chic," read one post.

"Melania was radiant and stunning," another person tweeted.

Someone else suggested that her suit would be OK had she been "attending the Oscars."
