Bruised up and donning a hospital gown, Jamacio Kimble struggled to get down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend in the emergency room of a Tennessee hospital.
Kimble had been in a car accident earlier that night on his way to buy flowers for his proposal plan, which was supposed to be at church with friends, when the night took an unexpected turn.
"The original plan was that night at church we were going to have our youth and college career class get together and have roses and music and the lights off, and I would be in the middle of the room,” Kimble told WBIR.com.
But instead, he reportedly ended up with a utility pole crashing through his window. Several of his baseball teammates who were driving behind him called for help, according to reports.
Kimble didn’t let that stop him from his plans, however, and went on with the proposal anyway.
"I am sorry for how the night went. The original plan was I was going to propose to you at church but the table has turned so…"
Kimble said he was prompted to act after realizing he could have been killed in the wreck.
"If you look at the car, the pole was in my front seat and passenger seat, and I could have died on my way to ask the girl of my dreams to marry me," Kimble told the station. "I was like 'I could have died not asking that, so while I have breath, I’m going to ask that.'"
Of course, King said yes.
