Senior Brings Bag of Doritos to Ask Teen With Down Syndrome To Prom

"Her favorite food has been Doritos ever since I've first known her," 18-year-old Shaedon Wedel said about his date, who has Down syndrome.

Most “promposals” are cheesy, but this one takes the chip.

A Kansas senior in high school asked his date to prom by bringing a bag of Doritos.

“Her favorite food has been Doritos ever since I’ve first known her,” 18-year-old Shaedon Wedel of Newton High School told InsideEdition.com.

That’s why he decided to ask 15-year-old Carlie Wittman, who has Down syndrome, to prom, wearing a custom T-shirt that read: “I know I’m NACHO typical Dorito, but I’m going to be CHEESY and ask: will you go to prom with me?”

“She gets excited about the littlest things, but when she saw what was going on, she started crying out of excitement,” he said.

Shaedon explained he and Carlie’s brother have been best friends for eight years, and they planned to take Carlie to prom together.

When Carlie’s brother instead decided to take his girlfriend to prom, Shaedon decided to ask Carlie to prom himself.

“My goal was just to make her prom as special as possible,” he said. "She keeps saying how she wants to be a princess."
