The 50-year-old singer was fed up with her husband, 42-year-old Wissam Al Mana, trying to control her life during her pregnancy, People magazine reported.

"Sadly, Janet and Wissam Al Mana have decided that it wasn't working and to go their separate ways," a friend of the couple told the Daily Mail.

It has also been reported that Al Mana's alleged domineering nature even led him to pick out Jackson's outfits and her performances.

"She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts," another source, who is said to work closely with the couple,Page Six quoted a source, who the paper says works closely with the couple.

There were reports that the “Rhythm Nation” singer had converted to Islam, her husband's religion. She has never confirmed nor denied the reports.

The very private sister of Michael Jackson surprised many when she released a video last year announcing she was pregnant. In January, she gave birth to her first child, Essa Al Mana.

The family currently lives in London and according to Page Six, the singer’s mother, Katherine, recently returned to Los Angeles after staying with her daughter in the city.

The couple reportedly has a pre-nuptial agreement that would give Jackson hundreds of millions of dollars if the couple could remain married for five years.

Al Mana and Jackson married in 2012. He is said to be worth about a billion dollars from his family fortune in the Al Mana Group, a Qatar-based business.

The singer is believed to be worth $250 million.

It was Al Mana’s first marriage and Jackson’s third. In 1984, she married singer James DeBarge, a union that was annulled a year later. In 1991, she married dancer and music video director Rene Elizondo Jr., whom she divorced in 2000.
